My new piece for "Elemental Sculpture" is a Water Alter. It was made by hauling stones from War Creek one by one. It was a dry creek bed so these stones were worn smooth by water and hold the memories of water. It was inspired by Grandma Aggie of the 13 indigenous grandmothers. I watched countless hours of footage of her speaking for the water. I then took some of her quotes and painted them on the rocks as they flow around the circle in water painted on the stones. The vessel in the center is a found object from the metal drive here, so it is salvaged.... It was perfect! While it is in the gallery viewers are prompted to write prayers for the water and place it in the circle of stones. Hopefully it will be full of prayers!
Ward off the evil eye, this piece offers protection. The color green is for the heart chakra, to open and receive love.
This collage/mixed media piece was created for a custom trade. The process for this piece was interesting and unfolded over time. The swallow represents the totem of the person I did this for. It evolved to include children and girly stuff, filled with abundance. I was glad she loved it!
Love the spiral of this fossilized shell, coupled with Chyrsacolla stone, I believe. These are my two favorite colors together, so named "Earth & sky". The tiny beads were tedious, but worth it for the finished product. Might want to keep this one myself....but for now, is for sale on my etsy site.
Hot off the beading table! Cedar Moon just finished on the full moon. Infused into this piece is the enegy of the green earth and Gaia. The patience and endurance of the cedar tree to stand strong through tough times coupled with the knowledege of knowing from grandmother moon. The green jade is also very protective and grounding. Perfect for these times!
Loved creating the pieces for this show. I could easily spend a whole year on the beauty of the Methow Valley.
Whew! Just got this piece finished for new show at Confluence Gallery. Come out and see all the new art! This will be available after the show on my etsy site. www.etsy.com/wildrootsdesigns
